Form Follows Function
"The complaint I have with many of the products I’ve purchased from Ototo is that they don’t function as they should. Especially with kitchen utensils and gadgets, how they get the job done is far more important than what they look like. I can’t waste precious counter or drawer space on a useless piece of equipment. These measuring spoons are cute, and with the egg separator, very clever; however, there is no ¼ teaspoon! Instead, you’re given a ½ tablespoon … a measurement I have never seen in a recipe. A ¼ teaspoon is needed for most of my recipes that use lots of spices. Also, the shape of the spoon’s bowls make it impossible for any of them to fit in a spice jar, so there’s no efficient scooping directly from the jar. Just because a decorative design is super cute, doesn’t mean it should be produced and offered for sale as a cooking utensil. Make certain it functions, then make it clever. Two stars for the cute factor."
